Day 3 The Corsican desert and Calvi
Now you will head towards the Balagne. After a few km and a last look over the bay of St Florent, you're in the desert of the Agriates. No sandy dunes but low vegetation and not really much around. After a sweet descent you leave the desert and get ready for some lovely climbs into the mountain area of the Balagne.

Distance: from 70km to 110km

Night in Calvi.

Day 4 The famous village of Porto
The itinerary follows the coastal road along crystal clear waters, and offers some stunning views. Major climb of the day is the Col de PalmarellaAfter the "Col de la Croix", through a few typical villages, you will reach Porto and its famous genovese tower. If you want to, you can ride up to the "Calanches de Piana" (an extraordinary rock formation).

Distance: around 85km

Min height: 3m / Max height: 408m

Day 5 Rest day
Today you can enjoy the beautiful bay of Porto; sunbathing, swimming, snorkelling... Visiting the natural reserve of Scandola by boat or walking up the "Calanches de Piana".

For those who can't spend a day without their bike, a 100km loop over the col de Sevi is a great challenge.

Night in the same hotel.

Day 6 Into the heart of the island
Todays stage leads you through the stunning Spelunca gorges into the Aïtone-forest and up to the highest road pass of the island, the Col de VergioDon't be surprised to see some pigs, cows, goats or other wildlife on your way.

A long downhill awaits you (the twisty and narrow Scala Santa Regina is just pure pleasure!), and a last little climb before reaching Corte (capital of Corsica during its independence 1755-1769).

Distance: around 90km

Min height: 50m / Max height: 1477m

Day 7 Down to the East coast
You will follow (more or less, depending on the route you've chosen) the Tavignanu river down to Aleria, an ancient Roman city. Always be careful on high speed downhill sections, because (and not only in this area!) the animals, contrary to the humans, are numerous and love to stand in the middle of the road.

Once in Aleria you can visit the Roman Museum and the old fortress, or rather relax a bit in the nearby Spa resort, located directly on the beach (a transfer with the hotel bus is possible).

Distance: from 60km to 100km

Night in Aleria.

Day 8 Into the Castagniccia
Heading Nothwards today, you will quickly find yourself climbing again, avoiding the main road along the coast, you will ride into the Castagniccia (owes its name to the massif chestnut planting by the Genoese in the middle-age). On your way you'll see historical witnesses of the ancient times; like churches, convents, abandoned sheepfolds...

Distance: from 80km to 100km

Night in Piedicroce.

Day 9 Back to Bastia
Leaving this very authentic region, and once very crowed (though you wouldn't guess it), some gentle climbs will make sure you won't forget that Corsica is really a mountain in the sea. Finally, to end the stage and the trip, you'll easily "roll" until your last accommodation, located a few meters from the beach near the Bastia/Poretta airport.

Distance: from 70km to 100km

Night at the Marana.
velo-de-route

Day 10 End of the tour
The program ends after the breakfast. A transfer to the airport or Bastia is possible (ask us).
